The Private Career Training Institution’s Agency is a Crown Agency established under provincial statute (the Private Career Training Institutions Act) and is mandated to provide consumer protection to students attending private career training institutions in British Columbia. The Agency is also tasked with establishing standards of quality that must be met by accredited institutions.
The Private Career Training Institutions Agency (PCTIA) seeks to fill the following position:
INSTITUTION OFFICER
In a small office environment and under the guidance of the Assistant Registrar, the Institution Officer is one of five staff who are responsible for providing support to career training institutions making application for registration or accreditation with the PCTIA and for monitoring the compliance of institutions that are registered or accredited with the Agency. The incumbent also is required to assist in the review of claims of non-compliance, liaise with third-party regulatory or licensing bodies and assist with administrative processes associated with the closure of an institution. An Institution Officer also facilitates a variety of PCTIA Information Sessions or Workshops and may be requested to assist with policy development. Occasional travel throughout British Columbia will be required. Frequent travel within the Lower Mainland is expected.
Education/experience competencies required:
minimum of an undergraduate degree
three years of teaching or administrative experience in a post-secondary institution, preferably in the private sector or, alternatively, two years of experience in conducting complex investigations
Excellent interpersonal skills.
Excellent English language verbal and written communication skills.
Strong ability in Microsoft applications such as Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook.
Other qualifications and assets:
Ability to conduct complex investigations.
Ability to work independently while functioning as a critical member of a small team.
Ability to apply critical thinking skills and use discretion.
Ability to formulate and support recommendations based on Bylaw requirements.
Ability to juggle conflicting priorities.
Starting salary range: $61,569 - $64,031.
